Bacon Bits

Bacon Bits are always better when they’re fresh from your own kitchen, they’re also a great way to use up leftover bacon.

There are two ways to do this ~ in the frying pan or in the oven if you have one. I am giving both sets of instructions here though the video shows the frying method.

Bacon can be stored in the fridge for up to a week and can be frozen up to 6 months

Bacon Bits

Homemade bacon bits are quick, easy and unlike store bought you know how they were made and what exactly is in them — BACON and nothing but

Instructions

Frying Method

  • Chop bacon into small bits
  • Fry on medium-high for about 6 minutes until dark and crisp looking ~ remembering to turn over after the first 3 minutes — This process can take a little longer depending on how large your pieces are
  • Carefully pull bacon from grease and drain between paper towels to soak up extra grease

Baking Method

  • Preheat oven to 400 F
  • Cover a cake pan with foil (easier cleanup) then parchment paper (non-stick)
  • Can use a sheet pan for this but be EXTRA EXTRA careful taking it from the oven, you don't want to hot bacon grease on yourself
  • Lay bacon out, not touching
  • Bake 10 minutes then check for dark & crispiness
  • Pull and place between paper towels so soak up extra grease
  • Chop & store
