Cooking for one comes with some troubles like food manufacturers not keeping you in mind when they package things. You may be craving hot dogs, bratwurst or the like and now you have all these extra buns that are going to go bad if you don’t use them but you cured that craving and don’t want to eat nothing but for the next week.
Here are some cool things you can do with those leftover buns
- Croutons ~ just cut the buns up, coat them in butter or oil and any seasonings you might like. Bake them at 375° F until golden brown.
- Bread Crumbs ~ cut them into cubes, place them in a 400° F oven until they’re browned then put them in a food processor with any spices you like
- Stuffing ~ Remember, any bread can be toasted up and used as stuffing mix with spices.
- Bread Pudding ~ extra buns are perfect for this
- Soup Thickener ~ if your soup isn’t as thick as you’d like it, tear apart some buns and put them in to soak up extra fluid. Use an immersion blender to make it creamy.
- Meatloaf Binder ~ soak buns in milk and add them to your meatloaf mix
- Sandwich Bread ~ make mini sub sandwiches or open them up and use them as regular slices
- Hamburger Buns ~ reshape your burger into a long thin cylinder and slide it into a hot dog bun instead of buying burger buns.
